FIELD: engine construction, in particular, electric ignition system with controlled combustion process in engine combustion chamber. SUBSTANCE: ignition coil has casing 1 incorporating core 2, primary winding 3, secondary winding 4, diode 5, capacitor, low-voltage connector unit 6 and high-voltage lead 7. Primary and secondary windings 3 and 4 are arranged about core 2. Secondary winding 4 is mounted within casing 1 by means of sectioned dielectric carcass 8. First facing 9 of capacitor is defined by thin-wall tubular member with through longitudinal slit 10 and is fixed on core 2 by dielectric material so that it partially embraces core 2. Second facing is defined by core 2 whose one end is connected to cathode of diode 5 and second end is connected to high-voltage lead 7 of coil.
