BOOM GUARDING Russian patent published in 1998 - IPC

FIELD: environment control technology. SUBSTANCE: this is intended for localization of oil slicks on surface of water basins and rivers and for collection of spilt oil. Boom guarding has oil-permeable cylindrical shell filled with oil absorber. Attached aside of cylindrical shell with their one edge are additional multiple-layer flexible strips with thickness of 0.5-2 cm. These flexible side strips are adapted to angular displacement. Flexible strips successively accommodate oil-permeable layer, oil absorbing layer and impermeable layer which are interconnected through their opposite edges by links. Edges of additional horizontal multiple-layer strips are attached to oil-permeable cylindrical shell by means of pivoted joints. Permeable layer of strips is made of hydrophobic material, and oil-absorbing layer is also made of hydrophobic material. Aforesaid embodiment of boom guarding is of simplified design combined with improved operating efficiency. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 3 cl, 2 dwg
