FIELD: electrical engineering, in particular, generation of heavy-current electric pulses. SUBSTANCE: device has breaking member which is made from substitutional solid solutions (V1-xMx)2O3, where X is impurity concentration, M is atom of doping II, II or IV-valence metal. In addition device has pulse magnetic field source, inside which said breaking member is located. When current pulse is sent to magnetic field source, breaking member decreases its conductance abruptly and electric circuit is opened. EFFECT: increased speed of circuit breaking. 1 dwg
