FIELD: petroleum processing. SUBSTANCE: heavy petroleum residue (selected from: straight-run mazuts, goudrons, heavy petroleums, cracking residues) is mixed with 5 to 25% of organomineral additive (selected from: pyroshale, sapropelites, sapromixites). Mixture is subjected to cracking at elevated temperature and pressure in two to three consecutive reactors, each being preceded with disintegrator for mechanochemical treatment of reaction mixture. When two reactors are available, organomineral additive is admixed to reaction mixture before each of reactors (70-90% into the first reactor and 10-30% into the second). In the case of 3 reactors: 50-70, 20-30, and 10-30%, respectively; in the case of 4 reactors: 40-60, 20-30, 10-20, and 0- 10%; and in the case of 5 reactors: 40-60, 15-25, 10-20, 5-15, and 0- 10%.
