FIELD: urban and industrial water supply systems. SUBSTANCE: action of impact Px and static Po pressures in pipe-line is converted to linear displacement of first and second blocking areas in the form of pistons with rods. By periodic mechanical action in direction opposite to action of pressures Px and Po pistons are displaced to first extreme position. At moments when mentioned position is achieved mechanical action is stopped and resumed again at moments when second piston reaches second extreme position. Measurement section of path of linear displacement of pistons is specified, is divided into preset number of equal lengths and one group of information pulses is formed with conducting of due measurement cycle. Their number is used to evaluate momentary flow rate. Value of repetition frequency of counting pulses which number is used to evaluate total flow rate is set in correspondence with value of time of formation of group of information pulses.
