FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines; checking fuel burning process in combustion chamber; measuring ion current flowing through electrodes of spark gap arranged in engine combustion chamber. SUBSTANCE: system ignition channel is furnished additionally with damping unit of free oscillation appearing at moment of attenuation of spark discharge. Free oscillation damping unit can be made in form of electronic switch closing terminals of one of ignition coil windings. Free oscillation damping unit can be made in the form of circuit of series connected electronic switch and resistor dissipating energy of free oscillations.
