FIELD: tests of materials. SUBSTANCE: method involves marking of indentation of specified length by spherical indenter with the use of pendulum deforming device. Degree n of plasto-elastic deformation is determined by depth h of indentation by dependence n=, where r is radius of indenter, mm. Then actual depth hact of indentation after dynamic loads is found and used to determine degree of plastic deformation. Mentioned dependence can be expressed in the form of nomogram. Work performed by pendulum of deforming device to form indentation is found in addition and is used as evaluation criterion of resistance of metal to deformation. Energy complying with upper position of pendulum of deforming device correspondingly before and after marking of indentation is found by scale of deforming device.
