DIFFERENTIAL DIAGNOSIS METHOD FOR RECOGNIZING EARLY AND LATE FORMS OF NEUROSYPHILIS Russian patent published in 1999 - IPC

FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves determining native cerebrospinal fluid luminescence level induced by hydrogen peroxide. Cerebrospinal fluid sample in the amount of 1 cm3 is placed into quartz cell possessing no luminescence properties. Luminescence initiation is carried out by adding 5% hydrogen peroxide solution in the amount of 0.02 ml three times in series into each cell. Cerebrospinal fluid luminescence is measured in serial medical CL 3604 chemoluminometer device usable for studying ultraweak luminescence of biologically active objects in 200-265 nm bandwidth. 24-digit pulse counter unit is used as detector unit. Counter signal is read by analog-to-digital converter, filtered to remove noise and sent through RS-232 sequential interface unit into computer to build chemoluminescence curve of each sample using software means. Graphic data is mathematically processed, maximum chemoluminescence intensity index I max is calculated and comparison analysis study is carried out. Syphilitic meningitis of acute or subacute stage being the case, chemoluminescence intensity maximum point is observed above 250 pulses/s limit value. Meningovascular syphilis being the case, chemoluminescence intensity maximum point is observed in the range of 114 ≤ I max < 250 pulses/s. Late forms of neurosyphilis are distinguished by low level of ultraweak luminescence comparable to control case of I max <114. EFFECT: enhanced accuracy of diagnosis. 2 dwg, 1 tbl
