METHOD OF CLEANING WATER BY FREEZING IT AND DEVICE FOR REALIZATION OF THIS METHOD Russian patent published in 1999 - IPC

FIELD: methods of cleaning water by freezing. SUBSTANCE: method consists in cooling water to freezing point at ratio of thermal flows in lateral and end surfaces equal to 50 to 500, keeping water at this temperature till layer of clean ice is formed cover contour of reservoir in volume of 25 to 50 % of initial volume of water and layer of deuterium ice, 0.5 to 4 mm thick is formed over both end surfaces with residual brine; then reservoir is with drawn from freezing chamber and is kept in thawing mode during period of time which exceeds time required for separating ice from reservoir by 20 to 40%, after which ice is withdrawn from reservoir, brine is drained and pure ice is thawed. Device used for realization of this method includes reservoir with cover and bottom for water whose vertical section has form of inverted truncated cone; cover is provided with heat-insulating coat; bottom of reservoir is supported by detachable sleeve with heat-insulating coat inside it. Height of reservoir is equal to 0.2 to 5.0 of its maximum size in plan and thickness of its lateral walls is equal to 0.1 to 5.0 mm. Foam plastic may be used as heat-insulating material.
