FIELD: presowing and prestorage treatment of cereals. SUBSTANCE: method involves directing microwave energy in the form of pulses to discharge chamber; generating recirculating gas flow. Plasma is urged to reciprocate under the action of microwave pulses and recirculating gas flow. Method further involves feeding cereals through discharge chamber in the form of free falling flow. Apparatus has discharge chamber extending in vertical plane along gravitational force component. Inlet and outlet units for product under treatment are connected to central openings in upper and lower discharge chamber bottoms. Inlet and outlet units are formed as metal pipes. Microwave energy inlet units are connected to upper or lower or to upper and lower discharge chamber bottoms and are positioned so that they surround product inlet and outlet pipes. Microwave energy inlet units are covered with dielectric material in plane of discharge chamber bottom. Gas flow vortexer is adapted for creating recirculation zone and positioned at discharge chamber lower bottom.
