FIELD: casting with directional crystallization, for example of turbine blades. SUBSTANCE: prepared melt is poured into casting mold at temperature higher than melting point of that metal. Then melt is cooled in casting mold by immersing mold in bath of second melt metal having temperature lower than melting point of first metal. Said bath is covered by floating spreadable layer of heat insulation loose material. Mold with melt is immersed into bath through covering layer. Apparatus includes chamber for heating melt and casting mold, crucible with bath arranged lower than heating chamber and unit for moving casting mold from heating zone to bath. Covering layer includes, mainly, ceramic hollow balls. Improved screening of bath provides high temperature gradient.
