FIELD: metal working. SUBSTANCE: method includes machining under conditions of hobbing of different tooth spaces during forward and reverse travel by means of grinding tool installed on tool spindle and its axis is perpendicular to direction of hobbing. Grinding tool is turned about cross point of its axis with axis of tool spindle rotation. It is done to reduce thermal stress of machining process and to improve cooling liquid supply by interruption of contact zone of grinding tool and side surface of circular tooth of wheel due to changing the height of external and internal working surfaces of grinding tool for one turn of the latter. The cross point is located in plane of middle line of reference rack tooth. Grinding tool is turned about cross point through an angle determined by formula.
