FIELD: metal working. SUBSTANCE: method includes machining under conditions of hobbing of different spaces of wheel teeth during forward and reverse travel by grinding wheel positioned on tool spindle and profiled on basis of reference rack. To reduce thermal stress of machining process and to improve conditions of cooling liquid supply to zone of cutting, prior to machining wheel is shifted on tool spindle, thus forming protruding external and internal working surfaces. Each surface has arc corresponding to central angle of 180 deg. These surfaces work alternately: half-turn of external surface and next half-turn of internal surface. After the external and internal working surfaces are worn out wheel is readjusted and returned to initial position with zero eccentricity. The method guarantees burnless machining of tooth surface and provides for machining process intensification. EFFECT: higher accuracy of machining. 2 dwg
