FIELD: mechanical engineering; welding. SUBSTANCE: proposed invention relates to electron-beam welding and it can be used for welding structural materials with control of specific power of electron beam in process of welding. Specific power of electron beam is modulated by applying preset frequency alternating voltage to beam current and/or to current of electron-beam focusing lens with subsequent recording of secondary current. Component with frequency equal to electron beam modulation frequency is separated from secondary current oscillation spectrum. Focusing lens current is controlled so as to provide minimum amplitude and (or) spectral density of secondary current separated component. This minimum should be between maximum values of dependence of amplitude and (or) spectral density of current of electron-beam focusing lens. Focusing of Electron beam is set basing on secondary current alternating component. Beam focusing is set by minimum value of amplitude and (or) spectral density of this component by regulating focusing lens current within interval between its values corresponding to maximum values of amplitude and (or) spectral density of component. EFFECT: enhanced accuracy of control of electron beam focusing in process of deep penetration. 5 dwg
