FIELD: contactless optical measurement technology, robotics, mechanical engineering, medicine, architecture. SUBSTANCE: set of stripes with sinusoidal distribution of intensity is projected on to surface, is shifted several times and one additional distribution of illumination intensity is projected. Corresponding images of surface are recorded by which complete phases of sinusoidal distribution for each point of surface are found independently. Absolute coordinates of points of surface are found with the aid of preliminary calibration. Additional distribution can be specified in the form of stepped function with width of step equal to distance between stripes or in the form of monotonic function or in any other form making it possible to determine number of stripe from set for each point of surface. EFFECT: expanded range of measured objects, capability for measurement of complex forms of surfaces having sharp edges, holes and breaks. 6 cl, 3 dwg
