FIELD: ferrous metallurgy, particularly, steel making in oxygen converters. SUBSTANCE: method includes charge of scrap into converter, turning of converter to side opposite to charging side relative to its horizontal axis through angle of 80-110 deg. Then converter is turned to charging side relative to its vertical axis through angle of 45-110 deg and placed for pouring of pig iron and subjected to oxygen blowing. EFFECT: higher stability of converter lining due to reduced rate of lining wear, reduced consumption of refractories, higher productivity of converters and increased yield of metal, reduced consumption of deoxidizing and alloying materials. 2 cl, 1 tbl, 2 ex
