FIELD: refractory materials. SUBSTANCE: method consists in mixing refractory filler fraction 3-1 mm with gluing solution, adding strengthening agent, combining resulting mixture with refractory filler fraction 5-3 mm and 1- 0 mm, wetting with binder, and mixing with fine refractory filler fraction below 0.063 mm, carbon material, and, if necessary, with antioxidant. Refractory filler fraction 3-1 mm is mixed with gluing solution until film with thickness 0.5-0.7 that of average size of strengthening agent particles is formed on grains of refractory filler. Material finally contains, wt. %: refractory filler fraction 5-0 mm, 48.0-92.5, including fraction 3-1 mm, 20-40; carbon material, 3-25; strengthening agent, 0.2-5.0; binder, 2-10; and gluing solution, 0.3-2.0. Weight of gluing solution necessary for mixing with refractory filler fraction 3-1 mm is found from determined relationship between weight of gluing solution, its density, weight of refractory filler, and true density of refractory filler fraction 3-1 mm.
