FIELD: ferrous metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: when tapping electric steel from casting ladle into tundish ladle through refractory tube, argon-nitrogen gas mixture is injected under metal level into refractory tube. Volume percentage of nitrogen (M) in gas mixture is found from relationship: M = KQ[([Al] +[N]/[(Al- 0.006)-(N+0.001)], where Q is weight intake of steel through refractory tube, t/min; K empiric coefficient characterizing physico-chemical principles of nitrogen absorption by steel equal to 5.65-8.3; [Al] required aluminum content in ingots, wt %; [N] required nitrogen content in ingots, wt %; Al aluminum content in steel in casting ladle, wt %; N nitrogen content in steel in casting ladle, wt %; 0.001 and 0.006 are empiric coefficients. EFFECT: increased accuracy in ensuring specified concentration of nitrogen in cast metal and therefore improved quality of continuously cast ingots. 2 cl, 1 tbl
