FIELD: agriculture, in particular, preservation of newly harvested grain prior to laying it for prolonged storage. SUBSTANCE: method involves diluting propionic acid with water and applying solution onto grain mass, with chitosan being preliminarily introduced into solution. Treatment of grain with solution prolongs grain storage life due to inhibiting effect of solution upon acid-resistant forms of microflora, sufficient for promoting target biochemical changes in grain. EFFECT: increased efficiency and prolonged storage time.
