FIELD: methods and devices for direct burning of bromine in hydrogen. SUBSTANCE: proposed device includes burner 1, combustion chamber 4, flame initiating units 5, combustion gas cooling units 6, combustion gas discharge units 7 and 8 and safety units 9 and 10. Burner has vertical body with vertical cylindrical pipe inside it. Body has four zones located in succession: cylindrical zone, zone of converging truncated cone, cylindrical zone and zone of diverging truncated cone. Burner is also provided with bromine and hydrogen introducing units 2 and 3 and units for interaction of reagents. Proposed method is performed in above- mentioned device. Mixture of hydrogen and combustion sustaining medium is prepared and flame is initiated. Combustion sustaining medium is fully or partially replaced with bromine vapor. Molar ratio of H2/Br2 provides for stable jet of flame and complete combustion of bromine in hydrogen; gas thus obtained is subjected to cooling and is evacuated at pressure no less than 1 bar and temperature of 40 to 125 C.
