FIELD: generation of cold gases for supercharging rescue facilities; fire-fighting technique. SUBSTANCE: gas generator has housing with upper and lower covers and outlet hole where the following components are arranged: igniter located behind boundaries of taper portion of upper cover and solid gas permeable substance charge of base of sodium azide. Filter-cooler of cup-shaped form with bead is mounted in housing tightly to its surface. Supporting perforated grate and screen are mounted between charge and filter-cooler. Diaphragm has shoulder on inner cylindrical portion for placing the bearing perforated grate. At least four tangential passages are smoothly distributed below shoulder in wall of cylindrical portion of diaphragm over circumference. Cylindrical upright with pivot at the end is secured to diaphragm on side of outer hole. Upright is provided with cylindrical cavity which is blind on side of diaphragm and holes in side wall near pivot. Outer surface holds screen filter material pressed by pipe. Free space of filter-cooler is formed between pipe and lower cover. EFFECT: enhanced operational reliability. 2 dwg
