FIELD: computer engineering. SUBSTANCE: information carrier contains fluorescent layer with information carrying structures. Fluorescent layer contains fluorescent paint molecules, which are located in polymer material of substrate. When laser beam is applied to information carrying structures, they produce lower fluorescence with respect to fluorescence of respective piece of source fluorescent layer, when information carrying structure is exposed to radiation, which excites fluorescence. Upon modulation of laser beam, each information carrying structure may store several bits, so that value of stored data element corresponds value of specific level in multiple-level code. Stored information is read by means of excitation of fluorescence of molecules of fluorescent paint in information carrying structure. Fluorescence is detected us a detector. Intensity of detected fluorescence corresponds to value of stored data element. Thus, 1- 10 bits may be stored in information carrying structure, which size is less than 0.25 square mcm.
