FIELD: foundry, namely production of bimetallic billets. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of casting melt metal into mold, forming skin broken on inclined faces of mold; solidifying bimetallic billet, calibrating its surface and knocking billet out of mold. Mold has two vertical and two paired faces having inclined upper portion and vertical lower portion; first two faces are subjected to reciprocation motion, second two faces are subjected to rotation. Alternatively melts of two metals are poured into mold for making billet having portions of predetermined length of metals with different temperature of crystallization. Initially melt metal with lower temperature of crystallization is cast into mold and then - melt metal with higher temperature of crystallization is cast. Plant is provided with two heated casting vessels arranged one over another. Stopper of lower casting vessel filled with melt metal having higher crystallization temperature has through opening. EFFECT: improved arrangement of plant units, enhanced efficiency of method. 2 cl, 2 dwg
