FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: method for making deformed bimetallic billets comprises steps of introducing into mold two belts of solid other metal at side of two paired faces with inclined upper portion at shifting belts to center and feeding base melt metal onto them. Two belts are made of metal whose melting temperature is higher than that of base metal. Formation of billet skin is realized only at side of two paired faces with inclined upper and vertical lower portions. Belts may be made of different metals. Plant for making deformed bimetallic billets includes in addition two belts with mechanism for feeding them. Mold has non-cooled pair of vertical faces. Height h of nozzle for metering metal is related with distance Ho from bottom of casting vessel until point of two belts touching in mold by relation h=(0.65-0.85)Ho. Method and plant provide enhanced quality of surface and of inner structure of billet. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of process, improved operational reliability of plant. 4 cl, 2 dwg
