FIELD: metallurgy, mainly systems for metal continuous casting. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of casting into mold basic melt metal; forming skin on mold walls having two paired vertical wall portions and two paired wall portions having inclined upper and vertical lower zones; imparting to said paired vertical wall portions reciprocation motion and imparting rotation to said second paired wall portions; feeding into mold two bands of other metal in solid state along mean zone of each of paired vertical wall portions; reducing metals; calibrating surface of bimetallic billet and knocking it out of mold. Bands are made of different materials having higher melting temperature than that of basic cast metal. Plant for performing the method includes casting vessel with metal metering device; water cooled mold whose design is described above and two bands provided with mechanisms for their feed. There are recesses on working surface of each belt. Size δ, of each recess is related with thickness a of band by relation δ=(0.1 -0.2)a; recesses are arranged normally relative to band axis and they are mutually spaced by distance l related with width b of band by relation l = (0.05 -0.1)b. Layer of basic metal is deposited onto working surface of each band. EFFECT: enhanced quality of bimetallic billets, improved reliability of plant operation, enlarged assortment of billets. 2 cl, 4 dwg
