FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: method includes alternating pouring of two metals into mold to obtain casting of definite length. Level of pouring of the first metal is brought to maximum value. The first metal supply is discontinued and melt is displaced in direction of casting. Skin is stripped along mold walls with inclined upper part. Then the second liquid metal is poured to space between skins. Layer of two metals is additionally compressed. Upon stopping of pouring into mold of liquid metal at moment of stripping the skins, rate of casting is reduced. After filling of space between skins with the second liquid metal, rate of casting is increased to required values. Pouring vessel consists of two chambers with two means for proportioning of metal and made for motion in horizontal plane. Installed at mold inlet is optical transducer of melt level. Installed under mold are transducer of casting motion speed and system of automatic control of casting process. EFFECT: increased efficiency of process, production of castings of any shape and thickness, higher strength of castings, improved operating reliability of device. 3 cl, 2 dwg
