FIELD: electronics. SUBSTANCE: invention refers in particular to vacuum triodes enabling heavy currents of low voltages to be switched. Proposed autoemission triode has anode, autoemission cathode and controlling grid placed between them. Cathode is manufactured in the form of nanocrystalline diamond emitter with emission threshold of the order of 2.0-6.0 W/mkm and gap D between cathode and anode and voltage U are selected so that field across cathode should be sufficient for operation of autoemission cathode which makes it possible for controlling grid to function as cut-off grid. Technical objective consists in decreased scattering of electrons by grid field, in simplified technological requirements to parameters of grid thanks to reduction of grid current, in enhanced efficiency of cathode-luminescent light sources controlled by grid due to suppression of emission under filaments of grid and in facilitated control over full current of emission. Use of proposed field-emission cathode in flat emission displays makes feasible to diminish controlling voltage, to reduce defocusing of electron beam ( grid repels electrons ), to raise service life of cathode as grid diminished flux of ions of residual gas which bombard cathode.
