FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: internal combustion engine has cylinder with smaller diameter piston for intake and ignition of fuel mixture, and cylinder with larger diameter piston in which expansion of combustion products and exhaust of gases take place. After ignition of fuel mixture in smaller diameter cylinder, its piston moves upwards displacing combustion products through open bypass channel into larger diameter cylinder in which larger diameter piston executes working stroke. Double-action valve is installed in bypass channel. EFFECT: invention provides improvement of fuel mixture preparation, possibility of using high-temperature light fuels, reduction of amounts of toxic matter in exhaust gases. 2 cl, 1 dwg
