FIELD: textile industry. SUBSTANCE: apparatus has rollers for feeding ribbon to working chamber made in the form of housing incorporating scutching drums. Beats arranged in two parallel planes inside scutching drums are equipped with projections having sharpened ends. Half the beats arranged on each drum have edges made in the form of steps offset one with respect to the other in direction opposite to course of rotation of drum. Steps positioned at larger distance from drum center are offset to maximum extent. Beats with steps and beats free of steps are alternatively fixed on drums. EFFECT: improved quality of ribbons by decreased linear density of fibers and reduced content of non-cellulose contaminants in fibers. 3 dwg
