FIELD: textile industry. SUBSTANCE: apparatus has rolls for feeding sliver into working chamber formed as housing incorporating scutching drums with beaters attached to scutching drums and arranged in two parallel rows, with number of scutching drums exceeding two. Air suction openings in housing end surface above drum axes have adjustable area. Forced air suction opening is made in central part of housing end surface. Apparatus of such construction allows high-quality fibers with reduced linear density and decreased content of noncellulose contaminants to be produced. Construction of apparatus eliminates probability of winding fibers onto working parts of apparatus. EFFECT: increased efficiency, simplified construction and effective employment of space in production premises. 2 cl, 4 dwg
