FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: described is new method of binding thiols with conversion thiol group thereof into disulfide group. Said method comprises reacting compound containing thiol group with 1,2,4- thiadiazole compound comprising structural group of formula I: or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof wherein R1,R2,R3,R4 are independently hydrogen, lower alkyl, halogen, nitro group, lower alkoxy group or groups having formula : NR′R″, OC(O)R; NH(CO)OR′, in which R′ and R″ are independently hydrogen, lower alkyl, and Y is selected from compounds having formula II: in which R7 is as defined in claim 1. Also described are 3,5-disubstituted 1,2,4-thiadiazole compounds which are useful in diagnostics for entrapping organic mercaptans or as diagnostical reagents.
