FIELD: electrical engineering, laying of cables in zone of active formation of thunderstorms. SUBSTANCE: traditional gear for protection of communication cable has lightning- protection cable placed in ground above level of protected cable and having breaks in l intervals determined by length of protected cable, first lightning conductor of height P whose broken profile is made of vertical section with length C, section with inclination angle α with regard to level of ground inclined towards protected cable and upper vertical section with length d and grounding electrode placed at distance a from lightning-protection cable and at distance a+b from cable along horizontal line, where b is distance along horizontal line between communication cable and lightning- protection cable. First lightning conductor is connected by first conductor located under ground with first part of lightning-protection cable whose second part is connected via second conductor to first end of grounding electrode. Distance m between first and second parts in point of break of lightning-protection cable does not exceed depth of laying of lightning-protection cable. Second lighting conductor of same section and configuration as first one is inserted between two parts of lightning- protection cable at distance not less than m from first lightning conductor to design such gear for cable protection which will allow current of lightning discharge to be re- distributed evenly. Upper ends of upper vertical sections of first and second lightning conductors are interconnected by third conductor whose section is larger than sections of first and second lightning conductors and second end of grounding electrode is connected with the aid of fourth conductor located under ground to second lightning conductor.
