SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of electrical engineering and can be used to protect optical communication cables in the zone of active thunderstorm activity. Linear earthing conductor, the length of which in each side of the ground wire is equal to the depth of the cable laying, is laid on the ground wire in places of connection of factory lengths of an optical cable by means of coupling sleeves perpendicular to a line in a horizontal plane at the input and output of the optical cable from the coupling sleeve, physical contact is made at the intersection of the ground wire with each line earthing switch, and the connection between the linear earthing switches and the ground wire is provided by connecting the ends of the line earthing switches, located at opposite ends of the line earthing switches from the wire, using connecting line earthing switch, while the contact with the wire of the connecting line earthing switch is carried out in the middle between the line earthing switches.
EFFECT: invention provides an increase in the protection efficiency of optical cables in areas with high specific resistance to earth.
