FIELD: making of straight and skew recesses of herringbone profile for securing blades in turbine and other rotors. SUBSTANCE: in order to enhance strength of cutting tool, quantity of active cutting edges forming at rotation of tool body around its lengthwise axis rotary figure whose contour corresponds to that of worked surface and inclined relative to lengthwise axis by less angle, exceeds quantity of cutting edges inclined relative to lengthwise axis by larger angle. In order to decrease time period for working recesses, method comprises steps of roughly milling recess by means of disc milling cutter having no undercuts; semifinished working of surface for making undercut recesses with constant allowance relative to predetermined recess in lengthwise direction at moving shaped end milling cutter with rotary cutting tips; finish working by means of shaped end milling cutter.
