FIELD: welding and soldering, namely of non-detachable joints of articles used in machine engineering and instrument making. SUBSTANCE: apparatus includes reflector supporting anode and cathode in electrode holders; cooled housing; screen transparent for light flux and unit for moving anode. Unit for moving anode includes permanent magnet, chamber placed inside magnet and communicated with inner cavity of reflector; tie rod whose one end is joined with anode and whose other end is provided with magnetic tip engaged with permanent magnet. Annular permanent magnet is arranged in housing with possibility of reciprocation motion for matching cathode area of arc discharge with irradiating focus of reflector. Such construction provides smooth motion of anode towards cathode and vice versa with controlled speed. EFFECT: improved design. 4 cl, 1 dwg
