FIELD: organic chemistry, chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to method of synthesis of 2-trifluoromethyl-10-[3-(1-methylpiperazinyl-4)-propyl] -phenothiazine used in treatment of patients with diseases of central nervous system. Agent is synthesized by interaction of 2- trifluoromethyl-10-(3-chloropropyl)-phenothiazine with 1-methylpiperazine in the presence of an aqueous alkali and catalytical system consisting of quaternary ammonium base and bromide anion. The end product base is isolated from reaction mass as its solution in nonpolar organic solvent and isolated base is fed to stage of treatment with hydrogen chloride. EFFECT: increased yield of end product, significant simplified technology, decreased time of process carrying out.
