FIELD: identifying sudden acceleration basing on information about automatic-transmission speed and position. SUBSTANCE: controller identifies sudden acceleration in case speed abruptly rises within first standard time interval provided transmission is in neutral (N) or parking (P) position and acceleration sensor ACC functions to determine output voltage drop set by means of accelerometer relative to reference value after ignition lock is turned on. In addition, controller identifies sudden acceleration when transmission is changed over to running position and speed suddenly rises within second reference time interval. When vehicle is running at high speed, controller identifies sudden acceleration only during change-over of transmission while measuring speed once again. Central processor unit (CPU) of vehicle engine control unit (ECU) may be also used as controller. EFFECT: provision for braking the vehicle in case of sudden acceleration to prevent accident. 34 cl, 15 dwg
