FIELD: thermal physics, applicable in production of refrigeration equipment, microwave radiation generators and heat engines. SUBSTANCE: working medium, whose molecules possess a stable dipole moment, is placed in a closed working coverage of the electric field, whose strength is selected from the following condition: μE>107DV/m, where μ - is dipole moment of working medium molecules expressed in Debyes (D), E is electric field strength expressed in V/m, passage of electric current in the closed working coverage of the electric field is excluded. Gases or liquids are used as the working medium. The device for cooling of working medium has a chamber for placement of working medium, whose molecules possess a stable dipole moment, the mentioned chamber has elements for feeding the potential difference setting up the electric field in the chamber. In the method for generation of microwave radiation the working medium, whose molecules possess a stable dipole moment, is placed in a closed working coverage of the electric field, whose strength s selected from the following condition: μE>107, DV/m, where μ is dipole moment of working medium molecules expressed in Debyes (D), E is electric field strength expressed in V/m, passage of electric current in the closed working coverage of the electric field is excluded and output of microwave radiation from the closed working coverage of the electric field and heat abstraction by absorption of this microwave radiation by an external heat-transfer agent are provided.
