FIELD: instrumentation designed for geophysical studies. SUBSTANCE: down-hole logging instrument is turned relative to its longitudinal axis thanks to gyroscopic moments of two controlled gyros without use of any devices for fixing it against walls of hole. With this in mind two gyromotors are installed in frames which rotation axes are perpendicular to axes of rotation of rotors and longitudinal axis of down-hole logging instrument. Rotors of gyromotors rotate in opposition. Angle-data transmitter and torque master unit are mounted on suspension axis of one frame. Frames are intercoupled by antiparallel link mechanism which secures their turns in opposite directions. Torque of torque master unit causes accelerated rotation of frames. With said gyroscopic moment acting along longitudinal axis of down-hole logging instrument is formed. If said moment overcomes frictional torque between walls of hole and down-hole logging instrument the latter begins turning around its longitudinal axis. When torque master unit is deenergized down-hole logging instrument stops turning. Presence of second frame with gyromotor markedly simplifies law of control over gear turning down-hole logging instrument. EFFECT: enhanced quality and productivity of gear operation. 1 dwg
