FIELD: optimization of processes of motion of bodies of unspecified form which take place in beneficiation of mineral resources, in construction and chemical industries, in agriculture and mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: technique provides for formation of adequate mathematical model of process of movement of body by rolling. In this case parameters of design model characterize real properties of body of which key parameters are mass, form and dimensions of body, elastic and dissipative properties of material and moment of inertia of rolling body. Technique provides for execution of experiment in which progress process of motion of real body by rolling is studied with the aid of experimental set. Mathematical model is formed by results of experimental data and its parameters, moment of inertia of body being most important, are computed. Cylindrical surface is employed as working surface and body is directly imparted with rotary motion by smooth turn of working surface that secures increased accuracy and simplification of technique. Process of motion of design model is presented in the form of mathematical model of motion of polyhedron by rolling over cylindrical surface. Path covered by body and model is evaluated by number of passes through lower point of cylindrical surface to full stop of body and model.
