FIELD: non-ferrous metallurgy, in particular, production of magnesium by electrolysis of fused salts. SUBSTANCE: the electrolyzer for production of magnesium and chlorine has an electrolytic compartment accommodating alternating anodes and cathodes, built-up cell separated from the electrolytic compartment by a separating partition with a V-shaped flow-over passage with a lug positioned below the passage inlet, the novelty is in the fact that the partition is made with a recess located in the upper part of the flow-over passage on the side of the electrolytic compartment and with a gas discharge passage positioned in its upper part over the entire length, having holes on the side of the built-up cell, and in the lower part of the partition over its entire length provision is made for at least three and more arched passages cambered from the bottom. EFFECT: enhanced service life of the partition, built-up cell and, thus, of the whole electrolyzer, and enhanced efficiency of operation of the system of gas discharge from the built-up cell. 2 dwg
