FIELD: cellulose derivatives production. SUBSTANCE: hydroxyl-free alkali metal cellulose is brought into reaction with at least three alkylation reagents: A, B, and C. Reagent A is selected from group including haloacetic acids, alkali metal haloacetates, alkali metal vinylsulfonates, and vinylsulfonic acid. Reagent B has general formula R1-(OCH2CH(R2))n-P wherein R1 represents hydrogen, C2-C7-hydrocarbyl or methyl group, n=0-2, and P represents glycidyl ether residue, 3-halo-2-hydroxypropyl ether residue, 1,2-epoxy group, or halogen atom. Reagent C has general formula R3-(OCH2CH(R2))m-P wherein R3 represents C8-C30-hydrocarbyl group, m=0-10, and R2 and P have the same denotations as above. In one embodiment of invention, reagent D representing quaternary ammonium compound can be included.
