FIELD: vacuum technology of application of metal and alloy films and coatings to polymer materials. SUBSTANCE: article is placed into vacuum chamber and preliminarily treated with gas plasma, subsequent vacuum-arc deposition of metal film. Process of metal film deposition is accompanied by treatment with working gas accelerated ions. Material for deposition is used in the form of titanium, aluminum or stainless steel. Treated material is used in the form of polyvinyl chloride, polycarbonate or polystyrene. EFFECT: higher efficiency of method due to production on polymer materials of protective and decorative coatings featuring high adhesive strength and wear resistance. 6 cl, 2 tbl
