FIELD: wireless communication. SUBSTANCE: technical result of invention lies in determination of position of mobile station by measurement of time difference in arrival of signals and of signal-to-noise ratio of direct pilot signals. In device determining position of mobile station mobile station receives signals synchronized with specified time from three neighboring base stations, as minimum, and is located within limits of service base station. Analog-to- digital converter converts signals received from base stations to digital data of samples of elementary signal, assigned search unit identifies at least two signals with the help of correlation of data of samples of elementary signal obtained from storage with the use of autonomous processing and computes signal-to-noise ratio and difference in time of arrival of two signals. Controller evaluates position of mobile station on basis of values of signal-to-noise ratios and difference in time of arrival of signals received from assigned search unit.
