FIELD: support and drive devices for information storage units, mainly computer hard disks. SUBSTANCE: support and drive device includes electric motor with stator and rotor, gas-dynamic support with sliding bearings whose movable members are formed by respective sections of inner surface of rotor and immovable members engageable with them are mounted on axle secured on base. Support of proposed device has surface grooves for wedging-out movable and immovable members of bearings by gas; each working surface of movable and immovable parts of bearings is part of surface of sphere. Each bearing has its own radius of curvature of working surface. Electric motor is of over-hung design; its rotor consists of two non-magnetic cylinders mounted one inside other and provided with flanges at the ends; stator is mounted between flanges of cylinders and is made in form of load-bearing armature winding made from nonmagnetic material. EFFECT: avoidance of contamination of hard disks with liquid lubricant; avoidance of vibrations and cocking. 5 cl, 13 dwg
