FIELD: ferrous metallurgy, namely processes for melting steel in oxygen converters. SUBSTANCE: process comprises steps of using as charge and in stage of blowing metal until time moment of intensive oxidation of carbon, calcined dolomite and ferruginous lime-magnesia flux taken in relation 0.1-9.0 at total quantity of dolomite and flux introduced to converter consisting 10 - 45 kg/ton of valid steel. When 1 - 3 minutes remains until termination of blowing, ferrugineous lime - magnesia flux is added to converter in quantity consisting 2.0 -10.0 kg/ton of valid steel. Content of magnesium oxides in calcined dolomite and in ferruginous lime - magnesia flux should be the same and equal to 25-35%. EFFECT: lowered content of gases (nitrogen and hydrogen) in steel produced by converter melting with use of ferruginous lime - magnesia flux. 3 cl, 1 tbl
