FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for smelting steel in oxygen converter. Method involves addition of flux into converter during smelting period prepared by briquetting method of small-dispersed material caked into rotating furnace and containing oxides of magnesium, iron, calcium, silicon and aluminum with using organic and/or mineral compounds for binding and with additive or without additive of carbon-containing materials in the amount providing preparing magnesium oxides in the amount 6-25% in slag after termination blowing metal with oxygen. Flux shows the following composition, wt.-%: calcium oxides, 1.0-35.0; iron oxides, 0.1-15.0; aluminum oxides, 1.0-4.0; silicon oxides, 1.0-10.0; carbon, 0.01-20.0; organic and/or mineral compounds, 1.0-10.0, and magnesium oxides, the balance. Flux is added to remained slag after outlet of metal from converter and/or before onset, and/or in process of blowing metal with oxygen, and/or before and/or after loading metal scrap. Using the invention improved dephosphorization and desulfurization of metal and process of slag formation also.
EFFECT: improved smelting method.
