FIELD: ferrous metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes charging the scrap, pouring cast iron, addition of lime, ferruginous dolomite and high-magnesian flux containing iron and calcium oxides. Ratio of amount of iron and calcium oxides to amount of magnesium oxide is equal to 0.05-0.30. Consumption of flux is equal to 1-50% of mass of ferruginous dolomite. Addition of flux may be performed during charging or during 10-95% of blowing time or on remaining slag after tapping metal from converter.
EFFECT: increased resistance of converter lining; improved slag mode of converter melting process; increased yield of good metal.
