FIELD: tests of hard materials for friction and wear. SUBSTANCE: procedure establishing relative wear resistance of materials in process of abrasive wear consists in measurement of linear and mass parameters of tested and reference specimens before start and on completion of their test for sliding friction on grinding wheel under static load and zero heating and in establishment of relative wear resistance of material as ratio of absolute volumes of worn layers and mass wear of reference and tested specimens. Tested and reference specimens are tested simultaneously, being placed on diametrically opposite sides of grinding wheel with opposition reciprocating motion of specimens over width of grinding wheel after lapping of specimens. Tests are carried out predominantly under load on specimens amounting to 45.0-60.0 N. EFFECT: widened technological capabilities of procedure and increased accuracy of results of tests while examining hard materials for wear resistance. 1 cl, 1 dwg, 2 tbl
