SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the vehicles electrical traction systems. Electric locomotive traction drive control method consists in the following. Rotation speed of each powered wheel pair is measured, obtained results are fed to inputs of derivative calculation units, in which rate of rotation speed change of the powered wheel pair is determined, and result is supplied to input of logic unit. In the logic unit speeds of change of rotation frequency of the powered wheel pair at the previous moment in time are compared with the current value of the signal, if the result of comparison exceeds the preset value of mismatch of signals, the signal of skid of the powered wheel pair is extracted. Setting value of the electric angle of opening of the controlled rectifier is reduced proportionally to the value of the result of comparison of speed variation signals and supplied to the control input of the controlled rectifier. Skid signal is supplied to one input of logic unit, number of slipping powered wheel pairs is determined, depending on the number of slipping powered wheel pairs, operating modes of the electric traction drive are determined: standard mode, mode of beginning of skid and mode of skid.

EFFECT: technical result consists in increase of locomotive traction properties.
